What would a Mom blog be without a poop story.....

One night earlier this month, the kids were taking a bath while I was folding laundry across the hall. Alaina and Ryan like to play with toys up on the ledge of the bathtub, and every time I'd walk by with some clothes I would check in to make sure they weren't dumping too much water overboard. Anyways, one time I walk by and peek in, then STOP, back up, do a double take, and say "What is Ryan playing with?" He was very neatly lining something up on the ledge of the tub. Alaina was apparently oblivious to the fact that he was sitting right next to her lining up POOP balls and making a train out of them!! He had three of them lined up and was fishing for a fourth when Alaina starts freaking. Honestly, my first thought was "Do I get them out or go get the camera??" HA!!! I chose to get them out, but tell me an attached photo right now wouldn't be hilarious!?!?

Claustrophobic toddler?

So today we busted out the winter coats. I think Ryan thought I was coming at him with (gasp!) another Halloween costume, because he ran away sobbing. But even after I caught him and somehow managed to get the coat on his flailing body and got him in the car to take Alaina to preschool, he cried ALL the way there. OK, I know it's only 3 miles into town, but that's like 12 in crying toddler miles. He kept tugging on his coat and hat yelling "Mama out!" Now I think the poor kid just really hates being bundled up in anything - thus maybe the aversion to his Halloween costume? Seriously, from the day he was born he has hated anything binding - we couldn't even swaddle him. I thought swaddling worked on all babies! Nope. This could be a LONG winter.

ISU GO!!!

OK, so we finally got Alaina to sing the ISU fight song on camera. She's been singing it since she was 2 years old though.

Go you Redbirds on to battle, fight for ISU.

First day of preschool

Alaina's first day of preschool. Her friend Andy is in her class too. The first day went really well (since Andy was there!), the second day, not so well. Had to shake her off my leg a little, but each day went a little better, and by the third week I got "Um, you can GO NOW, MOM!" Sniff, sniff.

Pumpkin Carving

Our first Jack-O-Lantern. Alaina and Ryan were very interested to see what was inside the pumpkin. We saved and roasted the seeds too.

My Two Stinkers

Halloween 2008. Alaina and Ryan were both skunks. My youngest stinker HATED his costume and bawled every time I tried to come near him with it. I made him wear it long enough to get a photo, and then he stayed home while Alaina and I went trick-or-treating. Oh well. Better luck next year!
